SADI Vision

Becoming A World-Renowned Design School By 2020
SADI students are participating in international contests for great results, and our alumni work as design professionals in various parts of the world.

Thanks to its impressive prize record at the world’s top three-most prestigious design contests and its alumni, who are rising stars in many sectors of Korean society, SADI is receiving a growing recognition as an accomplished specialized design education institution. Our current objective as an institution is to take our educational excellence to its next level towards the vision of joining the ranks of the world’s most eminent design schools by the year 2020.

The purpose of SADI has never been to serve as an in-company university to directly train the manpower needed by the Samsung Group and its affiliates. Nor has it been a university having a design department. From the outset, the blueprint has been for a specialized design school producing high-quality professionals to make Korean design competitive in the world market. The fact that in the early days of our founding, we introduced the educational know-how from the Parsons School speaks amply of this will to contribute to the overall design industry of Korea. Under this same goal, we studied every year best practices in design education from overseas to explore future directions of SADI over a medium and long term; consistent with its founding vision as a specialized design education institution.

Helped by its lively activities within Korea and overseas, SADI today is shoulder-to-shoulder with top design schools in Korea, and is now ready to set its sights on global prominence as a design school. Active efforts in this direction are currently underway. Our international accomplishments are already quite impressive, in addition to exchanges with eminent overseas design schools, our students are participating in international contests for great results, and our alumni work as design professionals in various parts of the world. Hence, the vision of joining the ranks of the world’s most eminent design schools by 2020 is far from a foolhardy or unrealistic dream.
